About

This blog is by one of the founders of the unique Frenchparents online network. I’m a bicultural, truly bilingual French and Canadian person with an economics, business and political science educational background. I’ve had the chance to manage large marketing communications projects as well as web site development projects from start to finish.

I also ended up in the SF Bay area in 1999 with a 7 month old child and no network of support and discovered what I knew nothing about despite my years in the US and Canada prior to this: how different it is to have children in this area of the US compared to France.

I also found out how limited governement intervention in schooling and child care is in the US and in this area. Hence finding adequate child care and schooling is like walking through a jungle for the newcomer. For one who is not even used to the local culture, simply understanding attitudes towards raising children is a challenge at first.

This led a great friend of mine and I to develop the Frenchparents web site, out of our living room- we found it more practical than our garage… We’re not geeks, like the spammers who send me over 1000 emails daily and took the Frenchparents.org domain name, so we worked with a smart developper based in France to develop the beginning of what you see today.

Hope you’ll enjoy the off-the-cuff remarks posted here. Please keep some distance and sense of humour, and do not hesitate to post comments other than the: ‘ Buy viagra ‘ some poor soul keeps posting here. ;-)
